At SummerSlam 2023, Shayna Baszler defeated Ronda Rousey in an MMA Rules Match. Rousey left WWE after this match.

During an interview with Cageside Seats, Ronda said the following about why she left WWE:

“I had a long sit down with Triple H and I was like, ‘I can’t be associated with mediocrity’. That’s what they seemed to be happy with at the time. I hope that is different now, but I can’t say… that I’ve ever experienced it any other way.”

Ronda commended Triple H for his exceptional treatment of women in the industry and his unwavering belief in their abilities.

She credited him as the primary reason for her presence in WWE, emphasizing his faith in her talents.

Additionally, she expressed a desire for her entire tenure to have been guided by Triple H’s creative direction, rather than just a brief period.

During an interview with Fightful, Shayna revealed that she and Ronda wanted a Steel Cage or a Fight Pit for their match at SummerSlam, but it wasn’t possible at Ford Field.

Here’s what Baszler said:

“I won’t lie, the idea we had, we were a little bit handcuffed just based on the venue. There was no tron, so we knew the people in-house were going to have trouble maybe understanding some of the stuff because you need a camera and a close up of that.

We couldn’t get a Cage or a Fight Pit in there because of the rigging in a dome situation is totally different. There was a lot.

We tried to work out some other things, it just didn’t work out. We did the best we could with what we had. I’m proud of it.”
