3. Will John Cena vs. Randy Orton For The WWE Championship Take Place At WrestleMania 33?
As we all know, John Cena captured the WWE Championship and Randy Orton won the 2017 Royal Rumble match. Since WWE is only promoting matches between wrestlers from the same brand, there is a lot of speculation going on regarding John Cena vs. Randy Orton for the WWE Championship taking place at WrestleMania 33.
However, that’s not the case. As we noted before, plans were for Orton to win the Royal Rumble match (which he did) and Bray Wyatt to capture the WWE Championship on the road to WrestleMania 33, ultimately leading to a Title match with Wyatt & Orton at WrestleMania 33.
While the WWE Title change can easily happen at Elimination Chamber 2016 in two weeks, it’s a little hard to think about WWE officials booking Cena’s historic 16th WWE World Title reign to last only two weeks.
While John Cena vs. Samoa Joe was originally planned for WrestleMania 33, that could change and lead to a Triple Threat match for the WWE Championship between Cena, Orton & Wyatt (especially after Joe didn’t debut during the Royal Rumble match).
We’ll keep you updated on this. But one thing is for sure, Cena vs. Orton for the WWE Title in a singles match won’t take place at WrestleMania 33.
