Ryback was destined to be ‘The Next Big Thing’ in 2012, when he achieved an impressive 38 match undefeated streak, that could’ve easily continued for at least another year, if WWE hadn’t put him into the main event too soon, in order to replace an injured John Cena.

CM Punk was going to drop the WWE Championship to The Rock at the upcoming Royal Rumble 2013 PPV, so they had to end Ryback’s undefeated streak somehow in the main event of Hell In A Cell 2012, and they did so with the referee turning heel and screwing The Big Guy.

After the undefeated streak ended, the bad booking for the up-and-coming top star continued and his push in WWE eventually came to an end.

During a recent interview on the ‘Roundtable Wrestling’ podcast, Ryback revealed that there’s video footage of him finishing a match with a broken ankle, while he was still known as Nexus member Skip Sheffield.

Here’s what The Big Guy said:

“A lot of people don’t know this but at 28 years old in the Nexus I broke my ankle like Conor McGregor, ankle flopping. I popped up, I didn’t sit down and I did an entire comeback for a minute or a minute and a half straight and I won the match. I spiral broke my leg all the way to my knee.

WWE refused to give that footage or show the fans. It would have put that Triple H video, where he tore his quad to shame. That footage exists and they don’t want people to see it.

I literally broke my leg in 3 places, flopping around. Popped up and kept running and broke my leg to my knee. I’m hell-bent on showing people my passion and what I had to do to get my health back.”

Ryback is referring to Triple H’s 2001 quad injury, with which The Game still finished his Tag Team match with Stone Cold Steve Austin against Chris Benoit & Chris Jericho on the May 21st 2001 episode of WWF RAW IS WAR.
