• WWE SummerSlam will expand to a two-night event in 2025, marking the first Premium Live Event outside WrestleMania to adopt this format.
The move reflects WWE’s evolving event strategy, as TKO CEO Mark Shapiro suggested at the UBS Global Media & Communications Conference, hinting at the potential for other PLEs to follow.
Shapiro credited the success of WrestleMania’s two-night structure and emphasized WWE’s strong storytelling, which seamlessly connects RAW, SmackDown, and PLEs. The expanded format aims to spotlight multiple storylines, showcase new talent, and feature major stars like The Rock, John Cena & Roman Reigns, offering fans a broader and more engaging experience.
Here’s what Shapiro said regarding more WWE PLEs becoming two-night events:
“Definitely opportunities for that. It’s all a progression, a natural evolution. WrestleMania was a big hit for us to expand. As you look at all these PLEs, depending on the partner, I think there is absolutely an opportunity to advance some of them to two days.
We’re in a good place with our storylines. WrestleMania is the culmination, and then a new season begins.”
