In the world of professional wrestling, social media can often be a double-edged sword, and recently, AEW found itself in the spotlight as at least two of its wrestlers faced fines due to their conduct on social media platforms.
Fans speculated that the wrestlers in question were Saraya and Santana, known for their outspoken and unfiltered presence on Twitter.
A report from Fightful Select has clarified that neither Saraya nor Santana faced fines under AEW’s new social media policy.
The policy, implemented to regulate wrestlers’ behavior on platforms like Twitter, had raised eyebrows, especially considering the reputation Saraya and Santana have for their candid online interactions.
One incident that fueled speculation involved Santana, who posted and subsequently deleted a tweet on December 7 that simply read “6 weeks”.
Fans speculated this could indicate frustration about the last time he appeared on AEW programming. However, the report confirmed that Santana was not fined for this social media activity. In a subsequent tweet, Santana played into the rumors, stating, “Fined me? Yea. Ok. ππππππ”
Additionally, there were rumors circulating that Saraya’s reduced activity on social media was a consequence of the new AEW policy.
In response to an Twitter account speculating about the reasons for her social media break, Saraya addressed the issue, asserting, “I took a long social media break. Not because anyone told me not to haha. Ainβt no one telling s*** about my twitter I can do what I want.”
The clarification brings relief to fans who were curious about the potential repercussions of the wrestlers’ social media behavior. It also sheds light on how AEW is navigating its new social media policy and underscores the importance of distinguishing between speculation and actual disciplinary actions.
While the AEW social media policy aims to maintain a professional image and mitigate any potential controversies, it appears that Saraya and Santana, despite their reputation for being outspoken, have not fallen afoul of the regulations.
