• Scott Hall Recalls Beating WWF Veteran’s A$$ Backstage

In this flashback article, we take a look at an old shoot interview with WWE Hall of Famer Scott Hall (a.k.a Razor Ramon), where Hall talked about beating up WWF Veteran Marty Jannetty in the AWA.

Below are the highlights:

Scott Hall: One time I got into a scuffle with Marty Jannetty and I beat Marty’s a$$ in the locker room. And Marty was a top babyface. And I figured, well, I’m fired now because I just beat the hell out of him.

He was asleep on a table and I beat the hell out of him. And I fight dirty and I beat his a$$. I was walking under the tunnel back to the heel side. Marty was a big face. And I was walking back to the heel side, I figured I’m fired now. Screw it! I’ll go back to Florida, back to the strip clubs.

I’m walking through this thing and I’m pumped because I’ve just been in a fight. I hear this, “Hey Steve…Hey Steve!” And I turn around and I go, “Are you talking to me, Harley? Because I figure I’m fired anyway. Are you talking to me Harley? My name is Scott, Scott Hall. I’ve been here six f’n months. My name is Scott Hall”.

He said, “Calm down, kid” and he’s so cool. He comes over and I damaged my knuckle because I was hitting him just like a wild man and I jammed my knuckle. Harley set my knuckle for me. Then he goes, “Hey kid, next time you do that sh*t, do it after the show. Now the f***ing guy can’t work.”

Host: What was the fight with Marty over?

Scott Hall: There was a dude named DJ Peterson. At that time I had a different look. I had curly brown hair and a mustache. I looked like a cowboy from the Village People. He kind of looks similar. We are both muscle guys. What happened was DJ and Marty were really good buddies. And they stayed in a hotel. And when they checked in, they registered a Scott Hall.

So the story has it they trashed the room. So now the hotel calls wrestling office and wrestling office calls me. I’m so job scared. I want to be a wrestler. I didn’t do anything wrong. I didn’t drink back there. I didn’t do anything wrong.

So they said we just have kind of a feeling who it was, but we just wanted to check with you. And I remember asking Bob Brown who was the Booker, “Bulldog” Bob Brown, and I said if I slap him around a little bit, am I gonna get fired? He said ‘no’. And I’m such a redneck, when I went to the show that night, I knew I was gonna fight. I wore my old clothes. I wore my old cowboy boots. Because I was worried I might get blood.

And I went in there and went right in the babyface locker room and looked around for him and didn’t see him. I turned around and there he was, sleeping on a table. And I just started beating.

Because all I could think about was him checking in the hotel and they going, “Well whose name should we put?” “Just put Scott Hall.” Because I liked them and I thought they liked me and it hurt my feelings.

Next time I saw him the next night. I went to him and said, “Everybody’s telling me I jumped on you when you were asleep. So now you’re awake. Do you want some of me?” And he went, “No”. Because he just had stitches in his face and if he just said ‘yes’, I’d have drilled him. But he went ‘no’.

I said okay it’s over then. For me it’s over.
