• After his victory over Drew McIntyre at last night’s WWE MSG live event (tap here for complete results), Seth Rollins overtakes Roman Reigns in the number of title defenses in their respective ongoing reigns.
Since August 2020, Roman Reigns has defended the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship a total of 54 times.
Since May 2023, Seth Rollins has defended the World Heavyweight Championship a total of 55 times.
Speaking of Rollins, he has also joined Cody Rhodes and Dominik Mysterio as the only 3 wrestlers in WWE to have over 100 matches in 2023.
• WCW Legend Sting will have his retirement match at the AEW Revolution pay-per-view at the Greensboro Coliseum in Greensboro, North Carolina on March 3rd 2024.
During an interview on the Steve & Captain Evil podcast, fellow WCW Legend Goldberg, who is looking for his own retirement match, talked about how much Sting means to him and revealed that he tried to get involved in Sting’s retirement match.
Here’s what the former WCW World Heavyweight Champion said:
“Sting is the reason why I broke into the business. Sting set a great example. He’s about to retire. I tried to be part of his retirement match.
I would not have chosen to get into the world of professional wrestling if it wasn’t for Sting. He was a normal dude who went out and did abnormal things. Wrestling is like being in the circus, it truly is.
I never looked at it with much respect, but after I watched him from afar, I realized that I had the ability to go do it.
He was not only a performer. He had self-respect and he commanded respect. He’s one of the best human beings on the planet, and he set an example for me and I just tried to grab it and run with it and make him proud.
I had the best time of my life in the ring with Sting.”
