Below are some top WWE & AEW news stories of the day, involving Sheamus and Britt Baker.
• Sheamus has addressed his reputation for a stiff and physical in-ring style, a characteristic that has drawn both praise and criticism from fans and peers alike. Speaking to Collider, Sheamus acknowledged the hard-hitting nature of his matches, emphasizing that while his style is physical, he never takes liberties with his opponents.
“The thing about me is I’ve never been a guy to take liberties,” Sheamus said. “I will hit you. I will hit you hard. I’m not going to break noses and stuff, but I’ll hit you. But I expect to be hit back just as hard, if not harder, and they know that.”
Sheamus prides himself on his ability to elevate his opponents through the intense physicality he brings to the ring. He views his style as a way for younger talent to showcase a new side of themselves.
“They can show a side of themselves that they probably wouldn’t be able to show with certain other talent,” Sheamus explained.
The tagline “Banger After Banger” encapsulates his commitment to delivering memorable matches. While some wrestlers may shy away from his demanding style, Sheamus remains unapologetic.
“I’m sure there are people who don’t want to get in there with me because they don’t like the physical aspect that I bring, but I don’t give a sh*t,” Sheamus stated. “If you want to go in there with me, come in there with me. A lot of young talent will want to get in there, and they’ll know when they’re going to have a Sheamus match—a banger of a Sheamus match—and the crowd will give them that much more respect.”
Sheamus is set to challenge Bron Breakker for the Intercontinental Championship this weekend at Saturday Night’s Main Event, promising another potential “banger” for fans.

• According to Wade Keller of PWTorch, Britt Baker is currently absent from AEW TV due to mounting frustrations within the company over her behavior.
Keller reported that Baker has allegedly become increasingly difficult to work with, and a minor incident in recent months served as the “straw that broke the camel’s back,” leading AEW to stop booking the former Women’s World Champion. Tony Khan is reportedly “fed up” with her as well.
Baker, an AEW original and the first female talent signed by the promotion, has not appeared on AEW television since her November 13, 2024 match against Penelope Ford. Following that match, Serena Deeb confronted Baker, during which Baker reportedly dismissed the situation by repeatedly saying, “nobody cares.”
According to the Wrestling Observer, Baker has a lot of time left on her contract:
“If you talk to a lot of people in AEW, obviously Britt Baker is polarizing. There are people that don’t like Britt. The idea that nobody in the locker room likes Britt is absolutely not true. I talked to a lot of people today, and at the end of the day, she’s not being used right now, and most people don’t know why.
Ultimately, it’s Tony’s decision whether she’s gonna be used or not. And nobody I talk to, and it’s a lot of people that talk to Tony. I mean, nobody said she’s not coming back. It’s not like she’s never going to be used again. Her contract goes for quite a while. It’s just she’s not being used right now, and that’s what the story is.”
