• Sheamus Loses 30 Lbs, Says He Got Heat For Winning The WWE Title

During a recent appearance on E&C’s Pod Of Awesomeness podcast, former WWE Champion Sheamus talked about his physical transformation, losing 30 lbs, winning the WWE Title & more.

Below are the highlights:

On losing 30 lbs weight:

“It just started because I was unhappy about where I was in WWE. I was unhappy like — the idea came into my mind before I started tagging with Cesaro and then I wasn’t really happy with my training. I wasn’t really happy with what I was doing. I felt like I was just going through the motions in the gym.

You guys know you’re on the road all the time and just it’s airport, airport, land, car rental, gym, arena, hotel it’s just like a rut and I wasn’t really enjoying my working out and stuff it like I needed some motivation.”

On if losing weight is going to help him in the ring:

“If they ever let me back in there I think it’s definitely gonna help. The funny thing is when I was with Cesaro, which was one of the funnest times in my career, tagging with Cesaro with The Bar.

It’s funny in tag team wrestling when you get in there and are going 100 miles an hour. ‘Alright I need to get a breath,’ so he’ll tag himself in and of course, [Cesaro] would never run out of breath so I’d have to tag myself back in, but now it’ll be interesting to see. I’d like to find out how much better my wind is ring-wise.”

On getting heat for winning the WWE Championship from John Cena at TLC 2009:

“Oh boy, boy did everybody get pi$$ed off…the backlash I got over that was insane. There were so many people, so many of the boys at the time were so pi$$ed off.

I don’t blame them, but yeah, I started with the hardest one. Start at the top and work your way down, you know what I mean? I mean that was crazy, that was insane.

I remember the same night, it was TLC and they were like ‘John’s retaining’ I was like, ‘No worries. It’s great, I’m in a WWE World Title match in my second pay-per-view.’

Again, it was all mad. It was like being dropped in a tornado. It was a sink or swim type of deal and all of a sudden at the end of the pay-per-view at the end of the match I was holding the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, it was just insane.”
