• Shocking Backstage News On Roman Reigns vs. Cody Rhodes
Roman Reigns defeated Cody Rhodes in the main event of WrestleMania 39 Sunday to retain the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship to continue his 945-day reign.
Solo Sikoa interfered, but the referee sent him to the back. The Usos interfered, but Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn took them out.
In the end, Paul Heyman distracted the referee, which led to Solo coming back to deliver the Samoan Spike to Cody.
The Tribal Chief then hit his momentum Spear on The American Nightmare to pick up the win.
During the post-show press conference, a journalist asked Triple H that this was the perfect opportunity to make Cody the next big babyface with a huge victory over Reigns, so why they passed up on this moment to ‘drag’ Roman’s title reign to 1,000 days.
HHH said it’s not ‘dragging’ things out, as that’s a negative way to look at it. It’s telling a story.
Triple H said he’s very proud of Cody and the story continues on RAW. This was just the end of a chapter. The story never ends in our business.
In an update from the Wrestling Observer, Reigns was NEVER discussed to lose to Rhodes at WrestleMania Hollywood:
“Reigns winning was always the plan, although it was kept secret and almost nobody knew.”
This is a shocker to many fans, that WWE didn’t even consider the idea of Cody winning for once.
On the RAW after WrestleMania, a new feud started when Brock Lesnar turned heel and destroyed The American Nightmare.
