• Stephanie McMahon Reveals Why WWE Dropped ‘Pro Wrestling’ Term For ‘Sports Entertainment’
Talking about the evolution of WWE over the past 30 years at the yearly Business Partner Summit, Chief Brand Officer of WWE Stephanie McMahon commented on WWE’s decision to replace the term ‘pro wrestling’ with ‘sports entertainment’, and if going in the direction of current PG programming worked well for the company.
Below are the highlights:
On WWE’s decision to replace the term “pro wrestling” with “sports entertainment”:
“Advertisers either had an adverse reaction to the words ‘professional wrestling,’ or they simply didn’t understand what it was. So, how could we create a term or a label that potential partners could understand? How could we describe the WWE was based on larger-than-life characters enthralled in relatable storylines? That was when we coined the term ‘sports entertainment’.”
On if going in the direction of current PG programming worked well for the company:
“10 years ago, WWE once again reimagined our content and made the strategic decision to become more family-friendly, to grow our multi-generational audience and attract more blue-chip partners. Looking around the room here today, it’s easy to see that this strategy worked.”

• SmackDown Live Star With Ruptured Breast Implant Suffers Another Injury
As we noted before, former SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair is set to undergo surgery for a ruptured breast implant.
According to the Wrestling Observer, Charlotte ruptured her breast implant prior to WrestleMania 34, but didn’t undergo surgery then because she didn’t want her match with Asuka at WrestleMania 34 to be cancelled.
WWE officials then asked her to work the Backlash PPV to face Carmella and now she’s going to work the European Tour because of the money she’s going to get paid for this tour.
Charlotte is expected to undergo surgery after this European tour so that she ensures she won’t miss SummerSlam 2018 PPV because of this.
With that being said, Charlotte suffered another injury during the European tour.
When a fan asked Charlotte Flair for a selfie during a WWE Live Event, Charlotte noted that she can’t take a picture because she lost her teeth during the match.
You can watch Charlotte saying that below:
