When former NXT UK Champion Pete Dunne was called up to the WWE main roster on SmackDown, Vince McMahon changed his name to Butch and his character was changed too.

He was put in a team with Sheamus and Ridge Holland, together known as The Brawling Brutes.

In March, WrestleVotes reported that Butch is scheduled to get his Pete Dunne name back and he will also revert to his ‘Bruiserweight’ character soon:

“Absolutely, I was told that it’s in the works. When Triple H came back, I was told that Butch was due to become Pete Dunne, but somebody said, to wait because The Brawling Brutes were catching on.”

Butch also teased this with the following tweet:

In an update from Xero News, Butch is expected to leave Brawling Brutes soon and turn heel:

“Butch will be leaving The Brawling Brutes soon, returning to Pete Dunne and going heel.

WWE likes the idea of Sheamus vs. Pete Dunne at some point in the near future for when Butch/Dunne leaves The Brawling Brutes.”

Butch last wrestled on the May 19th episode of SmackDown, where him and Ridge Holland lost to Pretty Deadly in Pretty Deadly’s first televised match on the WWE main roster.
