On this day in Pro Wrestling history on January 19, 1992, the World Wrestling Federation aired their annual ‘Royal Rumble’ event LIVE on PPV from the Knickerbocker Arena in Albany, New York.

This is widely considered both, the single greatest Royal Rumble PPV and the single greatest Royal Rumble match of all time.

– WWF Intercontinental Championship: Roddy Piper def. The Mountie (c)

– The Beverly Brothers defeated The Bushwhackers

– WWF Tag Team Championship: The Natural Disasters defeated The Legion of Doom (c) via count-out

– Ric Flair won the 30-man Royal Rumble match and the vacant WWF World Heavyweight Championship

• SmackDown Star Warns 2 Indy Wrestlers About Signing With WWE

According to the Wrestling Observer, SmackDown Live wrestler Andrade warned indy wrestlers Rush & Dragon Lee about signing with WWE.

The Observer noted that Andrade’s advice was: ‘WWE wasn’t what it was cracked up to be’.

Rush ended up signing a deal with Ring Of Honor Wrestling and Lee is expected to do the same.

Speaking of Andrade, he’s now scheduled to get a push as WWE wants to keep their wrestlers happy and don’t want them to ask for their release.

Andrade defeated former WWE Champion Rey Mysterio this week.
