• SmackDown Wrestler Compares Himself To Owen Hart
WWE Intercontinental Champion Sami Zayn held a parody of WWE’s Slammy Awards on last week’s SmackDown, which was called the ‘Sami Awards’.
Zayn awarded himself the awards for ‘Return Of The Year’ and ‘Match Of The Year’, and was also set to award himself with the ‘Superstar Of The Year’ award, but couldn’t do so because of Big E.
Zayn held these awards because he thinks WWE doesn’t give him enough credit for what he does, and wanted to have his own segment to celebrate his achievements in 2020.
Some fans compared this to what late WWF Legend Owen Hart did at the 1997 Slammy Awards, where he was supposed to present the “Best Bowtie” award, but instead of announcing the winner, he awarded himself with the title and stole the Slammy.
Zayn acknowledged this comparison and posted the following about it on Twitter.
