The person behind incorporating The Undertaker’s legendary WrestleMania streak into WWE storylines has been revealed.
The streak, which began in 1991 with a victory over Jimmy Snuka, grew to become one of the most significant aspects of The Undertaker’s career, with victories over stars like Jake Roberts, Sid, and Ric Flair.
The streak was as important as the World Championship match at WrestleMania, until its shocking end at WrestleMania 30 when Brock Lesnar defeated The Phenom.
On the Something to Wrestle With podcast, Bruce Prichard credited Michael Hayes for recognizing the potential of The Undertaker’s streak.
Hayes consistently pushed for it to be highlighted in storylines, realizing its importance long before others did.
Prichard said, “The Streak kind of came up from Michael Hayes. You know Michael always had tidbits of information that Michael would kind of throw out [and] say, ‘Hey, you know The Undertaker’s undefeated at WrestleMania. Something we can do with that. There’s a story there.’ He would push that all the time until finally that streak had built up to being meaningful and hence The Streak.”
Even Jim Ross previously stated that The Undertaker’s streak should have continued, but its importance in WWE history remains undisputed.
The Phenom’s WrestleMania streak will always be a key part of his legacy.
