In a surprising turn of speculation, former WWE commentator Jonathan Coachman believes that Triple H could be nearing the end of his tenure as WWE’s Chief Content Officer — and not necessarily by his own decision. Speaking candidly on the Two Man Power Trip podcast, Coachman suggested that behind-the-scenes politics could be threatening Triple H’s current role in WWE.
Triple H Possibly on the Way Out, Says Coachman
Coachman, who worked closely with WWE for over a decade, did not hold back when discussing the internal dynamics that could jeopardize Triple H’s position. “There may be angles being run to oust Triple H altogether,” he said during the podcast with host John Poz.
While Coachman didn’t offer specifics, his implication was clear: Triple H, who has taken on increased responsibility since Vince McMahon stepped back from day-to-day operations, may not be universally supported in WWE’s evolving power structure.
HHH has been credited with revitalizing WWE’s creative direction since 2022, reportedly working upwards of 80 hours a week to oversee the company’s content. He’s been praised for bringing a more athletic, story-driven approach to WWE programming, yet Coachman believes that might not be enough to protect him from internal friction.
Triple H Could Be Replaced by The Rock’s Right Hand?
In discussing who might succeed Triple H if such a shift were to occur, Coachman floated the name of a familiar figure: Brian Gewirtz, former head writer for WWE RAW and current creative executive at Seven Bucks Productions, which is owned by Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson.
“The Rock wants Brian Gewirtz to be the head of creative again,” Coachman said. “I actually sublet my very first apartment when I moved to Stamford, Connecticut, back in 2000. It was his apartment. So, I’ve known him for a really long time and I’ve got a lot of respect for his creativity, but there’s no way that Brian could come back.”
Gewirtz worked in WWE from the late ’90s through 2015 and was heavily involved in crafting some of the company’s most successful storylines. His longstanding working relationship with The Rock has only deepened through their collaboration at Seven Bucks.
WWE Power Dynamics Could Shift Away from Triple H
Coachman’s remarks come amid growing speculation that TKO Group Holdings, WWE’s parent company under Endeavor, is looking to reshape leadership and creative responsibilities. While there’s no official confirmation of any such move, Coachman’s comments hint at a potentially turbulent period ahead for Triple H, whose creative vision has defined WWE’s recent successes.
Whether HHH remains at the helm or another influential name steps in, WWE’s internal politics appear far from settled.
