Below are a couple of top WWE news stories of the day, involving The Rock, Hall of Fame and SmackDown.
• WWE has begun unveiling the inductees for this year’s Hall of Fame class.
The ceremony is scheduled for April 5th at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, the historic home of ECW, following the final SmackDown before WrestleMania 40.
Paul Heyman, Bull Nakano and The US Express (Mike Rotunda & Barry Windham) have already been announced as part of the lineup, with more names to follow in the upcoming weeks.
The Rock, who recently returned to WWE television and joined the TKO Board of Directors in January, is making a significant comeback to WWE and its decision making process.
According to Fightful Select, The Rock has been involved in selecting this year’s WWE Hall of Fame inductees, with one source suggesting that his influence will be apparent once all the planned inductees are officially revealed.
One of the names pitched by The Rock for this year’s Hall of Fame class is his grandmother, Lia Maivia.
Lia Maivia, the wife of the late wrestler Peter Maivia, took over his wrestling territory after his death.
She played a significant role as one of wrestling’s early female promoters, managing the affairs of the Polynesian Pro Wrestling promotion.
