During an interview on the Babyface Podcast, WWE Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton had the following to say about going off-script in a promo segment against Charlotte Flair on last week’s SmackDown:

“I think, you know, being so new into this business, being so new as champion, I don’t think she really expected me to stand up to her. And I don’t think she expected me to, I guess, almost clap back.

And I think I kind of… look, all I have to say is it’s LIVE TV. Stakes are high. We’re going into WrestleMania. I have the title. I want to keep the title. And I’m gonna pull out every stop that I can. And people want to see our match. And I think that we did a very good job of getting people wanting to see our match and invested in our story.

Now, I’m ready to put on the best women’s match ever, and I’m ready to go to war.”

Update On Which Lines Were Off-Script In The Charlotte Flair – Tiffany Stratton Promo

The April 4th episode of SmackDown featured an explosive promo between Charlotte Flair and WWE Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton—but what fans saw on TV was only the tip of the iceberg. The segment quickly devolved into personal jabs, unscripted moments, and real-life tension that reportedly caught even WWE officials off guard.

According to Wrestling Observer Live’s Bryan Alvarez, several of the most cutting lines were not part of the original script. While Stratton’s barb calling Flair a “nepo baby” was planned, Flair’s biting retort wasn’t.

“Nepo QUEEN! The number one nepo baby!” Flair fired back—a line that Alvarez confirmed was completely unscripted.

The situation escalated further when Flair began mocking Stratton’s voice in an exaggerated high-pitched tone. “She’s ridiculing her and doing the high-pitched voice thing,” Alvarez explained. In response, Stratton veered off-script herself with a stinging “0-3” line, referencing Flair’s real-life history of three divorces.

“The discussion about divorces and everything, that was all in the script,” Alvarez clarified. “But the line about 0-3 which was a reference to how many times she’s been divorced, that was not in the script.”

Visibly upset, Stratton threw down the mic and stormed out of the ring—an unusual move for a babyface character. “She throws down the mic and she starts to roll out of the ring and Charlotte is walking (towards her), and Wade Barrett, he is gonna get between these two because he can see this thing has gone totally off the rails,” Alvarez added.

Backstage, the fallout was immediate. Both women received heat, but more of it reportedly landed on Flair. “There was more heat on Charlotte because she went off the script more, and she’s the veteran. She’s the one that’s supposed to be keeping this stuff together,” Alvarez said.

In the aftermath, WWE’s YouTube channel edited out several of the segment’s more controversial exchanges, but the full unedited version—including Flair’s remark about Ludwig Kaiser being in her DMs and the “0-3” jab—remained on USA Network’s channel for fans to analyze.

Though WWE has not issued an official statement, the incident has reportedly become “a hot topic among the women’s roster since it happened,” with backstage sources even describing Flair’s reaction as “a flailing shot from a boxer who didn’t realize they were KO’d.”

As of now, it’s unclear how WWE will address the tension going forward—but one thing is certain: this feud has crossed from storyline into very real territory.
