Below are a couple of top news stories of the day, featuring TNA and Vince McMahon.

• TNA Wrestling is reportedly very interested in signing recently released WWE wrestler Elektra Lopez.

According to Chris Featherstone, TNA is actively in talks with Lopez, and sources say there’s “very high interest” in bringing her in once her 90-day non-compete clause expires.

While other promotions have shown interest, Lopez appears to be leaning toward TNA, which aligns with the growing relationship between WWE NXT and TNA.

• Rumors are swirling that Vince McMahon might be planning to launch a new wrestling company, possibly with FOX as a broadcast partner. On 83 Weeks with Eric Bischoff, Conrad Thompson (Ric Flair’s son-in-law) speculated that McMahon’s recent Super Bowl LIX appearance could be more than just a social event. Thompson cited whispers that McMahon’s team has reached out to wrestling cameramen and that FOX may be holding a spot for him.

Though Thompson initially dismissed the idea as unlikely, he noted McMahon’s history with FOX, the presence of former WWE executives in McMahon’s new production company, and FOX’s recent deal with WWE Evolve on Tubi as potential clues.

However, major hurdles exist, including McMahon’s ongoing civil lawsuit and the difficulty of assembling a viable wrestling roster. While McMahon is known to be working on a new production company, whether it will involve wrestling remains uncertain.

Here’s what Conrad said:

“There’s been lots of speculation, lots of rumor and innuendo about Vince McMahon starting a company. Should I say the quiet part out loud? There’s been lots of whispers. I don’t know what’s real and what’s not, but allegedly, Vince McMahon’s people have made contact with people who have experience shooting wrestling — maybe cameramen. And allegedly — I don’t know if this is real or not — but the rumor mill, the whispers, say perhaps FOX is holding a spot for Vince McMahon.

I say to myself, ‘when is the last time I remember seeing Vince McMahon at a football game for a league he didn’t own?’ I don’t remember ever seeing or hearing that. And wait a minute, was the Super Bowl on FOX? Because I think it was.’

Now I’m not saying anything, but I am saying we’ve heard rumors that Vince has a studio and that he’s hired a bunch of former WWE executives. And then we’re hearing rumors that he’s had conversations with cameramen who have experience shooting wrestling, which seems awfully specific. And if he’s just shooting traditional entertainment, why do you need a wrestling cameraman?”

In an update, Sean Ross Sapp reported that FOX has denied any involvement in a possible Vince McMahon wrestling promotion.
