Below are a couple of top WWE news stories of the day, featuring Vince McMahon and Becky Lynch.
• A shareholder lawsuit against WWE has revealed details about boardroom struggles following allegations against Vince McMahon. The lawsuit, filed in November 2023, claims McMahon manipulated the sale process leading to the TKO merger for his benefit.
Board meeting minutes show that after the first Wall Street Journal report in June 2022, board members Man Jit Singh and Ignace Lahoud tried to resign but were persuaded to stay by Stephanie McMahon. Later, Vince McMahon stepped down on an interim basis, with Stephanie taking over as CEO and chairwoman. Several board members left that year, though none officially cited McMahon’s allegations as the reason.
In December 2022, Vince announced his intent to return, which the board unanimously opposed. He then used his controlling voting power to force his way back, leading to Singh and Lahoud’s resignations. McMahon also removed three board members and reinstated former company presidents George Barrios and Michelle Wilson. By January 2023, the board had unanimously elected him Executive Chairman.
The lawsuit further claims that WWE’s special investigation into McMahon’s misconduct was a “sham” and that the company covered it up. While WWE stated in an August 2022 filing that the investigation was “substantially complete,” board minutes from a day earlier suggest it was still ongoing. The lawsuit also alleges that McMahon favored Endeavor’s bid for WWE because it benefited top executives and secured his role in the new company, rather than maximizing value for shareholders.
Subpoenas have been issued to entities including J.P. Morgan, Liberty Media, and Vestry Light, a firm specializing in $exual misconduct allegations that lists WWE as a client.

• Becky Lynch has been absent from WWE since May 27, 2024, despite signing a new contract and being healthy.
According to Fightful Select, her return is delayed because WWE creative is still finalizing a plan for her. While ideas have been discussed, there’s no confirmed timeline, though she is expected to be involved in WrestleMania plans.
“I mean, for real, she signed, she’s healthy. I believe she’s still awaiting creative, and I think they’ve thrown some ideas back-and-forth. I know that she was signed and they wanted to get her involved with WrestleMania plans. I’m not sure what degree though, but yeah, she’s gonna come back.”
Becky recently addressed her future in professional wrestling during the Getting Over podcast. When asked how long she sees herself wrestling full-time and whether she would return for short runs like John Cena, Lynch admitted she isn’t sure.
She expressed her deep love for wrestling, noting that it has shaped her life and family. Reflecting on her career, she acknowledged that life often brings unexpected opportunities, and while she has a great mind for wrestling, she doesn’t know what her future in the industry will look like.
Here’s what the winner of the first-ever women’s WrestleMania main event said:
“I’m not trying to be vague or cagey in any way, but I feel like I have a great mind for wrestling, a great love for it, and it’s always going to be a part of me. It’s in my heart, it’s in my head, and it’s the reason I have my family. So, it’s incredibly important to me—I just don’t know what that looks like in the future.
Life has surprised me in wonderful ways recently. You can make all these plans, but sometimes things don’t go the way you intended. In the long run, though, something else works out—something even better than you expected. And honestly, I feel like that’s been the story of my entire career.”
