• Tony Khan Wants Former Intercontinental Champion In AEW

AEW owner Tony Khan was recently interviewed on Busted Open Radio, where he talked about ECW Legend Tommy Dreamer’s suggestion that former WWF Intercontinental Champion Ricky ‘The Dragon’ Steamboat should wrestle a match in All Elite Wrestling.

Here’s what Khan had to say:

“I think it’s amazing that Ricky Steamboat got back in the ring.

It’s certainly something to think about, Ricky Steamboat’s last match, one of my personal heroes. Somebody, as a kid, one of my all-time favorites and to this day one of my all-time favorites. I do think he was a great part of AEW already when he came in as the guest timekeeper.

I would love to have Ricky Steamboat back in AEW any time.”

Steamboat retired from professional wrestling after June 18th 2010, when he and his son Richie Steamboat defeated Caylen Croft & Trent Barreta at a Florida Championship Wrestling (WWE’s developmental brand, now known as NXT) Live event.

He ended up coming out of retirement on November 27th 2022 to team with FTR (fka The Revival) on the BTW (Big Time Wrestling) Return Of The Dragon pay-per-view at the Dorton Arena in in Raleigh, North Carolina. Together they defeated the trio of Brock Anderson (son of Arn Anderson), Jay Lethal & Nick Aldis (Magnus).

• Old School NWA Veteran Would Have Celebrated His Birthday

Today would have been the 71st birthday of Old School NWA Veteran Ray Candy (aka Kareem Muhammad).

Ray Candy wrestled for several NWA Territories during the 70s and 80s, such as Jim Crockett Promotions, Georgia Championship Wrestling (GCW), All Japan Pro Wrestling (AJPW) and Championship Wrestling from Florida (CWF).

In 1983 & 1984, Ray wrestled as Kareem Muhammad and teamed up with Elijah Akeem as The Zambuie Express.

By 1988, he became known as Commando Ray, one half of yet another superheavyweight Tag Team, The Commandos.

The Commandos had a very similar military based gimmick as Ray Candy’s former Tag Team The Zambuie Express.
