As we noted before, WWE taped 4 episodes of NXT TV for the rest of July and mid-August. Click here to check full spoilers.
A Super Heavyweight (265 lbs+) feud between Samoa Joe & Baron Corbin started at last night’s NXT tapings and the two beasts are scheduled to collide at NXT Takeover: Brooklyn on August 22.
Jushin “Thunder” Liger will be wrestling his first ever WWE match at the August 22nd show, where he will face Tyler Breeze. William Regal already announced a few days back that Finn Balor will defend his NXT Championship at Takeover: Brooklyn against Kevin Owens. Also, Bayley became the #1 contender for the NXT Women’s Championship at last night’s tapings when she defeated Becky Lynch in the final match of the tapings. She’s now scheduled to face current champion Sasha Banks at the Takeover show.
So the match-card for NXT Takeover: Brooklyn currently looks like this:
* Finn Balor (c) vs. Kevin Owens – NXT Championship
* Sasha Banks (c) vs. Bayley – NXT Women’s Championship
* Baron Corbin vs. Samoa Joe
* Jushin “Thunder” Liger vs. Tyler Breeze
In a related news, Wrestling Observer reports that WWE booking Jushin Liger for the NXT show is a political move, as they plan of competing with Ring of Honor on that night, as Field of Honor takes place on the same night in Brooklyn as well. New Japan Pro Wrestling has allowed some of its wrestlers to work the ROH show and WWE wants to take a shot at them by bringing in more notable Japanese name.
Ring of Honor has been running events like this during SummerSlam & WrestleMania weekends for some some time now & WWE wants to compete with them and beat them.
