Below are some top AEW & WWE news stories of the day.
• During an interview with Katee Sackhoff, AEW’s TBS Women’s Champion Mercedes Mone was asked if she considered leaving the wrestling business after her controversial WWE departure in 2022.
Here’s what Mercedes said:
“I did; I did because of how hurt I was by it and how much it drove me into a place of darkness; I couldn’t believe something that brought me so much light in my life, that saved me so many times when I was a kid, brought me so much darkness.
I was just like ‘I don’t want to feel like this’; I don’t want to have so much stress where I’m legit killing myself because of all the stress that I’m creating or the sadness that I’m bringing to myself because of this bad constant mental talk in my head.”
In the end, Mercedes decided to continue pursuing her childhood dream:
“So just a lot of healing. Just a lot of healing and I told myself ‘No, this is still what I freaking love. I love wrestling. I still have the same goal of when I was 10 years old. No one’s going to take that away.’ I felt like at this time maybe they want to see me gone forever.
Maybe people want to see me disappear and I’m like ‘I can’t give that to people. I can’t give up on myself and I can’t give up on my dream. I still have so much light and passion for this and such a chase and a drive.’”

• On Instagram, former Intercontinental Champion Ryback revealed that he no longer has an issue with WWE, now that Vince McMahon is gone from the company.
Regarding a return to WWE, The Big Guy said The Rock would have to get involved to make it happen:
“Now that Vince is gone, I am well, well moved on past the situation. I wish them all the best; I am doing great; I am at peace with everything on that, and I won what I needed to win.
They’re doing good. I’m doing good, and life is good. I’ve got my health back. I’ve been blessed, very grateful for everything.
For something like that to even remotely happen, some serious wrongs need to be righted, and it would honestly take The Rock getting involved for something to get done.”
Ryback was released from WWE in 2016 and last wrestled in 2018.
