3. AEW Wrestler Says FTR Is The Best Tag Team In The World Right Now
While speaking to talkSPORT, AEW EVP and TNT Champion, Cody Rhodes, discussed AEW signing new talent and how they’ve turned out to be for the company.
He said that FTR (fka as The Revival) were forgotten in WWE, but they’ve become the best tag team in the world after coming to AEW.
Below is what he said:
“I think when we you look at picking someone up for AEW, you really want to look at what they have left; not what they’ve done so much, more what they have left in the tank and where the passion level is at. AEW is an artist’s space and admittedly, there is some wild west to it. There are some areas where structure is not found, but what’s rewarded instead is an artist being an artist.
You are painting the picture how you would paint the picture. You’re playing your music how you would play your music. And those individuals you mentioned; it’s just the tip of the iceberg on what Mr. Brodie Lee is able to do.
FTR had this outstanding match at TakeOver with DIY what feels like 100 years ago and, after that, I feel like they never genuinely got the chance to show out again and we all lived off of that match. Like, ‘gosh, they could be so good’, and within two weeks, they’ve had some pressure on them and they’ve delivered immensely. They’re the best tag team in the world right now.”
Rhodes also praised Ricky Starks and Brian Cage.
He said that he wasn’t a fan of Cage at first, but his views changed about him after he joined AEW. Rhodes also compared Cage & Taz to Lex Luger & Harley Race.
