Below are some top WWE news stories of the day, involving Vince McMahon and Kurt Angle.

• During an interview on Gorilla Position, former Intercontinental Champion Gunther was asked if he’d have the same success that he’s had under Triple H if Vince McMahon was still running WWE.

Here’s what The Ring General said:

“I don’t know, but it was one of the reasons why, for a long time I didn’t want to go to the US. The product before Triple H was not what I enjoyed. I just didn’t want to be part of that. I am who I am and that’s what I can do best.

A big part of that is I need to have my time in the ring and have that time to put on the matches I can put on. That chance would not be there under the old regime.

With Triple H, he always saw that in me, and he always had that vision for me. I got lucky that a lot of things in my career took place at the right time. It was a little bit of a leap of faith when I first made the move over. Everything worked out in the end.”

• Fans often say that Chad Gable is a modern day version of Kurt Angle, and Angle thinks so too.

On his podcast, Angle talked about Gable’s recent heel turn and discussed how Gable does a lot of things that he used to do.

The Olympic Gold Medalist is flattered by it and thinks it’s a rebirth of Kurt Angle.

Here’s what the 2017 WWE Hall of Famer said:

“Well, listen. The Kurt Angle formula worked the first time. The Kurt Angle formula will work today.

I have noticed… I’ve been watching Chad and he’s doing a lot of actions that Kurt Angle used to do, different characteristics, different facial expressions, taking off his singlet before he does his finish.

He has been doing the Angle Slam and the Ankle Lock. I feel like this is a rebirth of Kurt Angle.”
