14-Time WWE World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton is currently out of action with a back injury.

He hasn’t wrestled since May and was written off WWE programming after a vicious storyline assault by Roman Reigns.

Orton underwent a lower back fusion surgery, which resulted in the original plan for the SummerSlam 2022 main event being canceled – Roman Reigns (c) vs. Randy Orton for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship.

PWInsider recently reported the following about The Viper:

“There’s been some rumblings about Randy Orton internally within the last week or so, where there hadn’t been any discussion about him internally in some time.”

It was then reported that WWE is bringing Orton to Los Angeles for the WrestleMania 39 weekend.

This appeared to be Orton’s return to the road with the company, but that’s not the case.

Wrestling Observer is reporting that Orton hasn’t been cleared yet:

“Orton’s back injury was nowhere close to allowing him to return to in-ring action.”
