Below are some top WWE news stories of the day, involving CM Punk.

• Seth Rollins opened up about his past relationship with CM Punk and his efforts to reconnect with the former WWE Champion after the infamous 2014 exit.

Speaking to Chris Van Vliet, Rollins revealed they had a mentor-mentee dynamic before Punk’s departure.

Rollins shared that he reached out multiple times after Punk left, sending texts and making calls to check in. However, he was cautious not to push too hard due to Punk’s established status compared to his own at the time.

Despite Rollins’ attempts over the years to engage and gauge Punk’s interest in returning, Punk never responded. Instead, Rollins noted that Punk often used public opportunities to criticize him.

Here’s what Rollins said:

“Yes, we were friends till he left and we had a mentor-mentee kinda relationship at that point. I sent him some texts and called him after he left, but I wasn’t comfortable enough with him, we were peers but he was here and I was here so I didn’t push that envelope.

Even over the years I reached out to him a couple of times to try to like, engage and see where he was at and see if he was interested in coming back. And nothing, no response. Except, when he got a chance, he’d talk as much crap as he could.”

Their renewed rivalry saw Punk defeat Rollins on the January 6th edition of RAW on Netflix. Fans speculate this feud might not be over, leaving questions about what’s next for both superstars.

• Bronson Reed has set his sights on CM Punk, expressing confidence in his ability to defeat the Second City Saint. Speaking to Netflix, Reed boldly claimed that his finishing move, the Tsunami, would be too much for Punk’s aging body to endure.

Reed said – “I can beat CM Punk, given the match. If I hit him with the Tsunami, his frail, old body will not last. So, CM Punk’s at the top of the list.”

Reed, who has been a dominant presence in WWE, is currently sidelined with an ankle injury sustained during the WarGames match at the Survivor Series Premium Live Event.

Despite his absence, Reed’s ambitions extend beyond Punk, as he also hopes to face John Cena during Cena’s retirement tour.

Fans will have to wait and see if Reed gets the opportunity to take on either Punk or Cena once he returns to action.
