Triple H has highlighted the distinct ways WWE’s top stars manage their public personas, with Roman Reigns standing out for his unique approach.
Speaking on The Roommates Show, Triple H praised John Cena as the ideal company representative, always willing to handle media and public appearances. Current WWE Champion Cody Rhodes, he noted, models himself after Cena, emulating his work ethic and commitment to becoming the top guy.
Reigns, however, takes a different approach. Triple H explained that Reigns is selective about public engagements, focusing on preserving the mystique of his Tribal Chief persona. This strategy, far from shirking responsibilities, aligns with his character’s aura and enhances his appeal.
Here’s what The Game said:
“Every star sort of has the things that work for them. Cena is like the, if you were to say, ‘Give me the perfect sort of I’ll-do-anything-for-the-company guy,’ it’s Cena. He’s the first guy there, last guy to leave. He’ll do all the media. He’s a perfect representative of the company at all times.
[Cody] sort of models himself [after Cena] because he was a young up-and-coming guy when Cena was on top. That’s how he sees himself — as that’s how you become the top guy.
Roman is totally different. Not in a bad way. He’s like, ‘I don’t feel like that’s worth my time.’ But that works for him because if we took that character and we put that character in all these other things, we kind of hurt the character.
It’s not that he doesn’t want to do it. It’s that he doesn’t feel like the character should do that stuff.”
Roman’s next match will take place on RAW’s debut episode on Netflix on January 6, 2025, where he’ll face Solo Sikoa in a Tribal Combat match with the Ula Fala on the line.
