Although many legends have been inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame, several influential figures, like the iconic tag team Demolition, have yet to receive the honor. Known for their influence on future generations of wrestlers, Demolition’s absence from the Hall of Fame has frustrated many fans.
Recently, it was revealed that Demolition almost appeared at the Hall of Fame ceremony last year, but circumstances kept it from happening.
Bill Eadie and Barry Darsow, known as Ax and Smash of Demolition, are 3-time WWF Tag Team Champions and are considered one of the greatest tag teams of all time. Their legacy is clear, and fans frequently wonder why they haven’t been inducted yet.
On Hitting The Turnbuckle, the topic came up again, with Eadie expressing hope that changes in WWE leadership might improve their relationship with the company. While they haven’t spoken to upper management directly, Eadie mentioned they aren’t too worried about it.
Here’s what Eadie said:
“Well, we never had an objection to going in (the WWE Hall of Fame). There was a lot of politics involved and now it’s changed like you say and hopefully, the change for the better with our relationship.
But we’ve never been in contact with anybody from the office and like you said before, the only person that made the decision for anything before was Vince (McMahon), and we weren’t on Vince’s like list I guess.
But, we’ve never objected to being inducted, we’ve never objected to being included in anything with WWE. So, quite possibly could happen. But one thing we haven’t done, we haven’t lost any sleep over it.”
Darsow shared that they were invited to the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony last year, but couldn’t attend due to prior commitments. He explained that they were already booked with another promoter and couldn’t back out, hoping WWE understood.
Despite this, Darsow saw the invitation as a good sign, especially with Triple H now involved in WWE’s decisions:
“Now last year at WrestleMania time, right before WrestleMania, they called us and they invited us to WrestleMania, and they invited us to the Hall of Fame and that was a big change with Triple H in there. I’m sure that’s all his idea.
We had to unfortunately turn them down because the person who brought us in, he paid for us to come in, and we were busy doing stuff with him so it wasn’t like we could just leave and jump ship and go over there, and I’m hoping they understood it and they should have.
But, that was the first kind of, ‘Hey, you guys wanna come and be with us?’ So that was a good sign.”
In 2018, Eadie told Sports Illustrated that Vince McMahon didn’t induct Demolition into the Hall of Fame because they were a part of the concussion lawsuit against the company:
“I’m almost certain it’s because of the lawsuit. It could happen, it might not happen, but Barry and I know that the fans know that Demolition should be in the Hall of Fame. We have the satisfaction of knowing we should be in there, and the fans tell us that every time we go out to sign.”
