The Undertaker appeared on Booker T’s Hall of Fame podcast and praised World Heavyweight Champion Gunther once again.
Here’s what The Phenom said:
“Gunther is my guy. I talk about him on my show all the time. He’s a throwback. He doesn’t do anything crazy. He chops the sh*t out of you. What he does is believable. Everything he does is believable and he’ll shine you up like a good heel should.”
While The Undertaker is a fan of Gunther’s chops, Bret Hart isn’t.
At WWE Clash At The Castle 2022, Gunther defeated Sheamus to retain the Intercontinental Championship. Bret was in attendance to witness this match.
The Hitman said in an interview later that he was embarrassed to be ringside at Clash At The Castle to watch so many “leg slaps” from wrestlers. He didn’t mention the Gunther vs. Sheamus match by name, but said that he wasn’t a fan of heavy chops either, which Gunther and Sheamus used on each other a lot.
Gunther didn’t like these comments. Below is what The Ring General said about Hart on WWE’s The Bump:
“I think it is obvious that in-ring, he is one of the best to ever do it. Very enjoyable. He was very popular in Germany and Austria when I was growing up. He was a big superstar there. But as Ludwig said before, I don’t forget.
And what that man said at my match in Cardiff and was not mentioning nice things after that. So, he is not going to get anything nice from me. Too bad he is not in the state anymore to settle this in the ring. It would have been very interesting.”
Gunther went on to have an in-ring segment with Bret Hart on RAW in Canada, where he mocked The Hitman by saying that Bill Goldberg is his favorite wrestler and that Bret is #2 for him.
