Below are a couple of top WWE news stories of the day.
• Lana Has Signed A WWE Legends Contract
Lana has reportedly signed a Legends contract with WWE, according to a new report from PWInsider. The outlet noted that during WWE’s presence in Las Vegas, “the word making the rounds” was that Lana, now working under her real name CJ Perry, has officially signed the deal.
Perry was released from WWE in June 2021 and has since been using her real name in her post-WWE endeavors. She later joined AEW, making her debut at AEW All Out in September 2023. However, her time there was short-lived, and she departed the company later that same year.
Lana’s husband, Rusev aka Miro, has signed with WWE and his return is being fast-tracked. Big E confirmed Rusev’s return as well.
• Triple H Reacts To Criticism About Openly Discussing Booking John Cena’s Heel Turn
Triple H has openly talked about booking John Cena’s heel turn on multiple podcasts.
This didn’t sit well with WWE Veteran Stevie Richards. Stevie said the following on his podcast:
“The only build I noticed for the Cena stuff going into WrestleMania was Triple H exposing that it wasn’t real in an interview, saying, ‘Yeah, we’ve talked to John about finally pulling the lever on them.’ Like, what are you doing? There’s the thumbnail, but what are you doing with that?
You literally just did the AEW media scrum before — you might as well give the finish to the matches while you’re at it.
Did you feel that way? I only watched like 30 seconds and I’m like, what is this guy doing? He’s suspending all the disbelief.”
Triple H indirectly addressed this criticism during an interview with Peter Rosenberg:
“It always makes me laugh in this day and age that old timers will do podcasts, where they’re giving away everything from their generation of the business and saying how terrible it is that these kids don’t kayfabe today.
Let me get this straight… You’re on a podcast telling everybody all the non-kayfabe stuff, and then complaining that there’s no kayfabe today? Genius.”
