At WrestleMania 39 Sunday, Drew McIntyre was pinned by Gunther in the Intercontinental Championship match, which also involved Sheamus.

After the match, McIntyre waved goodbye to the fans on Twitter:

McIntyre has been off WWE programming since then, because he reportedly got injured during this match.

As previously reported, 2023 is the final year of Drew’s current WWE contract and both sides are “far apart” on terms for a new deal.

Drew was drafted to RAW and WWE recently stopped advertising him for Money In The Bank 2023 in London, England.

The Wrestling Observer gave the following update about The Scottish Warrior:

“At this point, McIntyre’s return is basically more a creative issue regarding what they want, what he wants, and when they agree to it.

McIntyre, to the best of our knowledge, has not asked to leave, but they have not agreed to a new deal.”

There were some rumors that he might leave WWE and debut in AEW at the All In 2023 PPV in August.

That won’t be possible, because Drew’s contract doesn’t expire this year, and WWE might add the time missed due to injury to his contract.
