• Update On How Long Chad Gable Will Be Out Of Action
Chad Gable is dealing with a shoulder injury, which appears to be serious enough that WWE adjusted its creative plans. The injury is the reason for the angle involving Penta on this week’s episode of RAW. In a backstage segment, Chad said he’s glad Bron Breakker destroyed Penta. Penta then superkicked Gable and snapped his arm backwards. This was booked to write Gable off TV. PWInsider later reported that Gable will undergo surgery in early July.
In an update from Fightful Select, Gable (and El Grande Americano) will be out of action until at least late 2025.
• Chelsea Green Was Recently Hospitalized Again
Chelsea Green’s absence from the June 13 episode of SmackDown raised some eyebrows among fans. Initially, many linked her absence to the broken nose she suffered weeks prior. However, the real story turned out to be unrelated. Green didn’t even travel to Lexington for the show, as she was battling a severe sinus infection that led to hearing loss and an unexpected trip to the emergency room, according to Fightful Select.
Despite the scare, she recovered swiftly and returned to SmackDown the following week. WWE producers reportedly praised her quick comeback. It’s worth noting that her sinus infection was a separate issue and not connected to her earlier nasal injury.
• One of the G.O.A.T.s Still Set to Return for Evolution 2
7-Time WWE Women’s Champion Trish Stratus is gearing up for another comeback, according to WrestleVotes. Plans remain in place for Stratus to appear at the upcoming Evolution 2 PLE on July 13, the anticipated sequel to WWE’s first-ever all-women’s event in 2018. Despite WWE not announcing her return on last week’s SmackDown, which was the original plan, there are still plans for Trish to return.
With Trish celebrating the 25th anniversary of her wrestling debut this year, it’s possible she competes at Evolution 2. Trish has wrestled twice in WWE this year. She competed in the Women’s Royal Rumble match on February 1 and then competed at the Elimination Chamber premium live event on March 1, where she teamed up with WWE Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton to defeat Nia Jax and Candice LeRae.
Stratus also had a match at Evolution 2018, where she teamed up with Lita to defeat Mickie James & Alicia Fox (with Alexa Bliss). The original plan was Trish vs. Alexa, but Bliss got injured before the event.
• More Sad News For Roman Reigns’ Fans
Behind the scenes, WWE has started laying the groundwork for Roman Reigns’ highly anticipated comeback. According to WrestleVotes, new merchandise and marketing materials are already in development, signaling that the company is getting serious about bringing The OTC back into the spotlight. While there had been talks about involving Reigns at Night of Champions in Saudi Arabia this Saturday, plans shifted and now the focus is firmly on his return ahead of SummerSlam, where he’s expected to play a major role.
Interestingly, WWE is also exploring variations of the “Tribal Chief” moniker, hinting at a possible refresh or evolution of his character when he resurfaces. However, Reigns’ return to WWE programming isn’t expected to last long.
It has now been confirmed that Roman will play the role of Akuma in the live-action “Street Fighter” movie. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the shooting for this movie will begin in August and it will take place in Australia. This means Roman will take time off from WWE TV once again after SummerSlam.
The former WWE Champion was last seen on WWE TV on the RAW after WrestleMania 41, where he was attacked by Seth Rollins and Bron Breakker.
