• WWE Legend Fires Major Shot At MVP’s Criminal Past

Christian Cage recently announced his plan to team up with his “son” Nick Wayne and become the first father-son duo to win the AEW World Tag Team Championship. On this week’s special Thursday night taped episode of Collision, MVP met Christian backstage and told him not to pursue this idea, as Nick is just a kid. This led to Christian taking some major shots at MVP:

“Are you trying to convince yourself or are you trying to convince me? Because you see MVP, I’ve always lived by the rule – never trust a criminal. And you weren’t even a good criminal because you got caught. But here’s the more disturbing part about it: you’re actually a better criminal than you are a Manager. I am The Patriarch. I run AEW. And if I want those AEW Tag Team Championships, they’re as good as ours.”

MVP wished Christian and Nick good luck because they’re gonna need it. You can watch this segment below:

In 2024, MVP reflected on his troubled past. The former WWE United States Champion posted a rare photo of himself at age 16, taken shortly before he turned himself in for a high-profile robbery in 1990. He revealed he spent nearly a decade in prison.

He used the post to inspire others. Here’s what he wrote:

“MVP at 16 in 1990. Very shortly after this photo was taken, I turned myself in for a major robbery that made national headline news. I wouldn’t see freedom again until I was 26. 9 1/2 years later! #190197 went on to turn his life around and became MVP!!!!!

You are NOT defined by your past!”

He detailed the robbery, which involved a casino on a cruise ship, and his decision to surrender after being betrayed by accomplices. MVP credits the experience and a firm judge for steering him toward a better path, ultimately transforming his life and career.

Speaking of Christian & Nick Wayne’s storyline, Bodyslam reported that AEW created custom “Inter-Generational Tag Team Championship” over a year ago. These were designed as Father & Son Tag Team Titles, intended to introduce a unique division focused on generational teams. Despite the belts being physically made, they’ve yet to debut or be acknowledged on TV.
