Old School Wrestling Veteran “Wild” Bill Irwin a.k.a The Goon (Real name: Barney Irwin) celebrates his 65th birthday today.

During the 70s & 80s Bill Irwin wrestled for several different territories, such as World Class Championship Wrestling, Mid South Wrestling, American Wrestling Association, Georgia Championship Wrestling, Central States Wrestling, All Japan Pro Wrestling and Jim Crockett Promotions.

At WCW SuperBrawl III, he wrestled “The British Bulldog” Davey Boy Smith in one of his sporadic appearances for Ted Turner’s World Championship Wrestling.

In the summer of 1996, Irwin joined the World Wrestling Federation and became known as The Goon, an ice hockey gimmick, but only lasted till early 1997.

He resumed his role as The Goon in 2001, when he entered the famous Gimmick Battle Royal at WrestleMania X-Seven and then again in 2007 when he entered yet another Battle Royal during the “Raw XV” 15th-anniversary WWE Raw special episode.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BILL IRWIN!

• Big Cass Doesn’t Remember His Recent Incident

According to Mike Johnson of PWInsider, former WWE Superstar Big Cass doesn’t remember much from his recent incident backstage at WrestlePro (tap here for details).

Below is what Mike Johnson said:

“I spoke with several people who are close with Cass who spoke with him yesterday and basically he had a misstep and he took a huge step backwards in his personal issues and claimed the next day that he didn’t remember much of anything that had happened on Saturday and all we can do is wish him well and hope that things get better for him, because this is the second time now that his issues have brought him into a situation where they manifested themselves in front of the public eye.”

• Update On The Usos’ Return

According to the Wrestling Observer, former WWE Tag Team Champions The Usos are scheduled to return to WWE programming soon.

It was also noted that The Usos might become a part of SmackDown once again. No word yet on if they’ll return straight away on SmackDown, or will get drafted to SmackDown as a part of the WWE Draft (they’re currently a part of the RAW roster).

The Usos have been out of action due to Jimmy Uso’s DUI arrest.
