Update On What WWE Might Do After News Regarding “All Elite Wrestling” Broke Out

Chris Jericho & Jim Ross Working With A Billionaire To Start A New Wrestling Promotion

• Former WCW Cruiserweight Champion Celebrates His Birthday

Former WCW Cruiserweight Champion “Oklahoma” Ed Ferrara celebrates his 52nd birthday today.

From mid-1998 till the fall of 1999, he helped Vince Russo to write storyline ideas, some of which actually made it to television.

In October 1999, World Championship Wrestling management falsely assumed that both Russo & Ferrara were to credit for the World Wrestling Federation’s recent success, and signed them both to contracts, failing to realize that only around 20% of Russo’s (and Ferrara’s) ideas were used, while around 80% never made it into a script for TV.

After his WCW stint, during which he won the Cruiserweight Championship from Madusa, Ed joined Total Nonstop Action for a while in 2002 as a color commentator but soon left the promotion over financial troubles.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ED FERRARA!

• Update On What WWE Might Do After News Regarding “All Elite Wrestling” Broke Out

As we noted about a month back, SeScoops reported that Old School WWF Legend Chris Jericho and WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross have been working with Barry Bloom to start a new wrestling promotion.

This new project is financially backed by the Khan Family.

Shahid Khan of the Khan Family is one of the richest people in this world. He owns NFL’s Jacksonville Jaguars and English Premiere League’s Fulham F.C.

Shahid’s son, Tony, has been hands-on with this project as he’s a big wrestling fan.

Jim Ross has sent out ‘feelers’ to some WWE wrestlers for this new promotion. On the other hand, Chris Jericho is negotiating with wrestlers from New Japan Pro Wrestling.

As of now, Cody Rhodes, Kenny Omega, The Young Bucks and Hangman Page are all in for this project.

Talks are going on with AXS to get a TV deal for this new promotion.

This new wrestling promotion is expected to launch in early 2020.

With that being said, the promotion’s name could possibly be “All Elite Wrestling“.

In the last week, All Elite Wrestling, LLC filed multiple trademarks and you can check out these trademarked terms below:

– AEW Double Or Nothing

– AEW All Out

– AEW

– Tuesday Night Dynamite

– ALL OUT

– Double Or Nothing

– All Elite Wrestling

“Double Or Nothing” is rumored to be the name of the next ALL IN pay-per-view.

“Tuesday Night Dynamite” is rumored to be the name of their weekly wrestling show, which could mean that they have a TV deal.

The trademark filings reveal that All Elite Wrestling, LLC is based out of Jacksonville, FL.

All Elite Wrestling, LLC is registered at 1 TIAA Bank Field Drive in Jacksonville. This is the address of Jacksonville Jaguars’ stadium, which is owned by Shad Khan.

This kind of confirms the report of Khan Family being involved in this project.

Chris Jericho & Jim Ross have been denying the reports of this new promotion, but obviously something’s cooking.

Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer addressed this situation and noted how WWE might lock down talent and not release anybody.

Below is what Alvarez said (credit to Ringside news for transcription):

“You know that this information about the trademarks coming out that came out yesterday, you know that now that anybody that WWE was maybe considering letting go — They’re not gonna let anybody go. They’re not gonna let anybody become a free agent. They’re gonna lock everybody down. They’ve got the money to do it.

You’ve got a bunch of people under contract for New Japan, you’ve got people under contract for Impact, you’ve got people under contract for MLW. Where’s a talent going to come from for this promotion? It is a long uphill road to anything happening here. And again, I don’t want to say it’s impossible, but everybody needs to calm down.”
