• Vince McMahon Has A New Rule For WWE Programming

On tonight’s episode of RAW, John Morrison defeated Jeff Hardy in a singles match.

After the match, Cedric Alexander said Jeff is lucky that he didn’t put him in a retirement home last week. Jeff challenged Cedric to a match and said if Cedric beats him he’ll retire tonight.

Hardy then went on to defeat Alexander, which means Jeff’s career will continue.

According to Ringsidenews, Vince McMahon has a new rule for WWE programming – no more cold matches (having matches for the sake of having matches).

Vince wants every match to have a story behind it and that’s why Hardy put his career on the line in a rematch against Cedric from last week.

• On This Day In Pro Wrestling History (June 14, 1998) – WCW The Great American Bash 1998

On this day in Pro Wrestling history on June 14, 1998, Ted Turner’s World Championship Wrestling aired ‘WCW The Great American Bash 1998’ LIVE on PPV from the Baltimore Arena in Baltimore, Maryland.

This was the 12th edition of WCW’s annual The Great American Bash events, although the 1986 & 1987 Great American Bash events were actually tours of several shows with the best matches making it to the VHS, that made them being presented like 1 big event in both years, even though they weren’t.

There was no Great American Bash in 1993 & 1994, but after WCW was sold to the World Wrestling Federation in 2001, Vince McMahon brought the pay-per-view back in 2004 under the WWE banner.

Below are the results from that night:

Final in the Best-of-7-series for the #1 contender (TV title): Booker T defeated Chris Benoit

Kanyon defeated Perry Saturn

Vacant WCW Cruiserweight Championship: Chris Jericho defeated Dean Malenko by DQ

Juventud Guerrera defeated Reese

Chavo Guerrero Jr. defeated Eddie Guerrero

WCW World Television Championship: Booker T defeated Fit Finlay (c)

WCW United States Heavyweight Championship: Goldberg (c) defeated Konnan

Hollywood Hogan & Bret Hart defeated Roddy Piper & Randy Savage

Roddy Piper defeated Randy Savage

WCW World Tag Team Championship: Sting defeated The Giant
