Below are some top WWE news stories of the day, involving Vince McMahon and Randy Savage.
• During an interview with Chris Van Vliet, former WWE Superstar Baron Corbin talked about his failed Money In The Bank cash-in from 2017 against then-champion Jinder Mahal.
Corbin said Vince McMahon saw him becoming champion, but Jinder’s title reign played a big role in his failed cash-in.
Here’s what the former United States Champion said:
“I think Vince saw me becoming World Champion, and I think that winning that he’s like, ‘You’re going to hold it for a while.’ Because, I think Jinder being champ also played a part of, not only him doing his thing because he’s an incredible performer, but also they were trying to get, you know, a certain demographic of an audience. And like they had no intentions of changing that title at that time. So it was to carry it, and it was eventually to take it off of Jinder, but obviously, it did not come to fruition.”

• Rich Hering, a former longtime WWE executive, revealed that he still receives residuals for officiating the Randy Savage – Miss Elizabeth wedding at WWF SummerSlam 1991.
Hering, who served as WWE’s Senior Vice President of Government Relations and Risk Management, appeared on Ciliberto and Friends and shared the surprising detail about his continued earnings from the iconic wrestling moment.
Here’s what Rich said:
“That was the largest wedding I ever did. It was in Madison Square Garden. I’m still getting residual checks. They were going to do the wedding in Madison Square Garden, and I was talking to Vince (McMahon) and Pat Patterson about getting someone to do the wedding.
Vince said to me, ‘You’re a judge.’ ‘Yeah.’ I was Town of Liberty, Associate Village of Liberty, and Fallsburg Town Judge for four, five, six months when there was a vacancy of both judges.
I was appointed by the chief judge in the Fallsburg court, which I held for several months. [Vince] says, ‘Rich, you’d be the perfect person to do the ceremony.’ ‘Yeah, I’ve done quite a number of them over the years.’ That’s how that happened.”
In 2021, Hering was honored with the WWE Warrior Award during WrestleMania 37 weekend for his decades of contributions to the company.
