According to a report by Rolling Stone, WWE had some unusual workplace rules, including a strict dress code.
Men were required to wear suits, while women had to wear skirts, dresses, or pantsuits, and all employees were expected to keep their shoes polished at all times.
Former writers also described other policies that were considered uncommon in the entertainment industry.
For example, they claim they were told not to sneeze in front of Vince McMahon, as he saw it as a sign of weakness, and to always push their chairs in when standing up.
Additionally, they were instructed to stand when McMahon entered a room and only sit down after he had taken his seat.
The writers mentioned that, although these instructions did not come directly from McMahon, their managers relayed the expectations to them.
A spokesperson for McMahon issued the following statement regarding these claims:
“Many of the anonymous writers’ claims bear no resemblance to the reality of the writers room.
Vince never told people to stand up when he entered the room. That’s ludicrous.”
