• “Vince was nervous that I would back out of WrestleMania” – Kurt Angle

During the debut episode of The Kurt Angle Show podcast, WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle revealed that he almost missed WrestleMania 19 due to neck issues and that Chris Benoit was his replacement for match against Brock Lesnar in the main event.

However, Angle went on to compete in the main event of WrestleMania 19 after having a conversation with a kid (tap here to read the full story).

Angle later went on to note that he wanted his match with Lesnar to be advertised a lot more, but a lot of things were up in the air due to his injuries.

Here’s what Angle said:

“I would have preferred that we be advertised a lot more, but I think that Rock and Austin were the biggest names.

I heard rumors that Vince was nervous that I would back out and not go through with the match at WrestleMania.

So, he was waiting for me to make a call to tell him that I wasn’t going to do it, and I never did call him.

I continued on, so I understand why he promoted the other matches more than mine because he didn’t know if it was going to happen or not.”
