CM Punk and The Elite got into a brawl backstage after the AEW All Out pay-per-view last year when Punk went public about his problems with Kenny Omega, The Young Bucks and “Hangman” Adam Page during the post-show media scrum.

AEW President Tony Khan suspended the two sides for several months. Page wasn’t suspended as he wasn’t involved in the brawl despite having a lot of problems with Punk.

The Elite returned to AEW towards the end of 2022, while Punk returned in June this year on the debut episode of Collision.

Punk’s problems did not end. They kept growing which ultimately led to him being fired from AEW last Saturday.

According to the Wrestling Observer, The Young Bucks had stated that if 6 months went by without Punk having any issues, they would have been willing to sit down and work with him.

However, Punk took a shot at The Young Bucks on the night of his return. He apparently also took a shot at Matt Jackson’s wife after his return, and banned multiple people from Collision, especially those close to The Elite.

Things got worse when Punk cut a promo about Adam Page after an episode of Collision in Greensboro last month.

The brawl between Punk and “Jungle Boy” Jack Perry which made AEW President Tony Khan feel threatened finally led to the former 2-time AEW World Champion’s release.

According to Sean Ross Sapp, Punk and Young Bucks crossed paths backstage at Wembley Stadium before All In went on the air. AEW employees were on the edge of their seats when this happened, but nothing happened here.

Bodyslam reports that Punk kept the exchange with Matt & Nick short and said “let’s make history”.
