• What Happened Before Last Night’s SmackDown?
When WWE wants to bring up wrestlers from NXT to the main roster, they usually have them perform in front of the main roster crowd during dark matches.
Austin Theory is one of the wrestlers that recently competed in dark matches before SmackDown, before being brought to RAW as a new main roster superstar.
NXT wrestlers Johnny Gargano and Kyle O’Reilly faced off in a dark (untelevised) match before Friday’s SmackDown (tap here for results), with Gargano picking up the win.
This could be a hint that WWE officials are considering bringing them up to the main roster.
It should be noted that Gargano and O’Reilly’s WWE contracts are set to expire next month and new deals haven’t been signed yet.
