Below are a couple of top WWE news stories of the day, involving Cody Rhodes and Rhea Ripley.
• Before the Royal Rumble 2024 premium live event, WWE Officials told Cody Rhodes that he’d be facing Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship at WrestleMania 40.
Here’s what Fightful Select reported:
“As of the week before the Royal Rumble, Cody Rhodes was told he was working with Roman Reigns, and the plan was CM Punk vs. Seth Rollins at WrestleMania.
There had actually been multiple reassurances to the former that it would be happening.”
This is the reason why Cody was saying in interviews that he ain’t flinching about finishing the story, despite The Rock coming back.
• In a recent interview with Fox News Australia, 2-time WWE Hall of Famer Bret Hart talked how he made wrestling look real with his in-ring skills.
Bret then praised current Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley for making things look real:
“I really like her a lot. I really like her poise, her staying in character and sort of living her – she seems like she’s adapted a character that’s fun to play, and she’s playing into that, full tilt.
She’s putting that realism into it; that’s what I miss in a lot of wrestling today, just making it feel more real, and she makes it feel pretty real all the time.”
