• AJ Styles last appeared on WWE programming at the Clash At The Castle premium live event, where he lost to Cody Rhodes in an I Quit match. After that, he participated in the NOAH Destination event and later competed at WWE Live Events in Japan.
Earlier reports suggested that Styles would return during last night’s post-SummerSlam edition of SmackDown, but that did not happen.
According to PWInsider, Styles not only missed the show but wasn’t even present at the event. Despite this, Styles is still expected to return to TV and storylines before the Bash In Berlin PLE on August 31.
The report also noted that the reason for his absence was that the company had already finalized their creative plans and decided it wasn’t the right time for his return.

• After last night’s SmackDown went off the air, Solo Sikoa posted a photo of Roman Reigns hugging him and wrote the following:
“You lied to me..”

• According to numbers released by WWE, last night’s SmackDown drew a preliminary viewership of 2.43 million, which is the highest viewership for the blue brand since April.
This is up from last week’s 2.18 million viewers.
Last night’s post-SummerSlam episode featured the return of Roman Reigns to the blue brand, as he destroyed Solo Sikoa’s Bloodline.
