Below are a couple of top WWE news stories of the day:
– Piper Niven (fka Doudrop) returned to WWE programming on the August 14th episode of RAW to join forces with Chelsea Green and replace Sonya Deville as one half of the Women’s Tag Team Champions alongside Green.
On last night’s post-Payback episode of RAW, Adam Pearce announced that Niven wasn’t cleared to wrestle, and booked her partner Green in a match against Raquel Rodriguez.
According to Fightful Select, the reason why Niven wasn’t at RAW was because she has been dealing with a short-term illness.
The hope within WWE is that she will be back in a week or two, and there are currently no plans to strip her off the Women’s Tag Team Championship.
– Carlito made a shocking appearance at the WWE Backlash premium live event earlier this year to help Bad Bunny in the San Juan Street Fight against current Mr. Money In The Bank and Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champion Damian Priest.
Over a month after that, the Wrestling Observer reported that the former United States Champion signed with WWE. He was also pulled from all of his bookings with several independent wrestling promotions.
PWInsider reported that he would return to WWE on the July 7th episode of SmackDown at Madison Square Garden, but that did not happen as his segment was reportedly nixed due to The Bloodline segment going on for almost 40 minutes on that show.
In an update from the Wrestling Observer, it was noted that Carlito signed with WWE in July, but the company could not figure out what to do with him. They still have no plans for him which is why he hasn’t made his return to TV yet.
