There were rumors that Dominik Mysterio would end up facing Seth Rollins for the World Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam 2023.
However, that’s not the case.
According to the Wrestling Observer, a Money In The Bank rematch between Seth and Finn Balor for the World Title is set to take place at SummerSlam 2023.
At Money In The Bank, Balor got distracted by Mr. Money In The Bank Damian Priest being at ringside, which resulted in Seth putting Finn away.
Since then, WWE has booked Balor strong, in order to make him a credible threat to Rollins’ World Title.
In the main event of this week’s RAW, Balor pinned Sami Zayn in a 6-man tag team match. In the main event of this week’s NXT, Balor pinned NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes in a tag team match.
As of this writing, the following matches are expected to be announced for SummerSlam 2023 on August 5th at Ford Field in Detroit:
– Roman Reigns (c) vs. Jey Uso for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship
– Brock Lesnar vs. Cody Rhodes III (Rumored to be a Bullrope Match)
– Seth Rollins (c) vs. Finn Balor for the World Heavyweight Championship
– Gunther (c) vs. Drew McIntyre for the Intercontinental Championship
– Trish Stratus vs. Becky Lynch II
– Asuka (c) vs. Charlotte Flair vs. Bianca Belair for the WWE Women’s Championship
– Rhea Ripley (c) vs. WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion Raquel Rodriguez for the Women’s World Championship
– Ronda Rousey vs. Shayna Baszler
– Logan Paul vs. Ricochet
