Up next is the main event of the evening and it is for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship.
2023 Men’s Royal Rumble winner Cody Rhodes makes his way out first to a big pop. This is his first ever WrestleMania main event.
Cody met his family at ringside and gave his weight belt to the son of the late Jon Huber (Brodie Lee / Luke Harper).
Roman Reigns came out next to a huge reaction. He has been the champion for 945 days. He hasn’t been pinned in over 3 years. This is his 7th WrestleMania main event. This is the 3rd straight WrestleMania main event where he’s defending the same title.
Paul Heyman says something to Roman. Roman picks the mic and tells WrestleMania fans to acknowledge him.
The match begins and Cody is giving Roman a hard time, but Roman fires back with a Powerbomb! Roman goes for the cover, but Cody kicks out.
Cody sends Roman out of the ring, but Roman takes advantage of that and slams Cody on the entrance ramp. Roman is looking for another one, but Cody counters and bodyslams Roman on the ramp.
Solo Sikoa hits Cody in the ribs with a Steel Chair when the referee wasn’t looking. Roman takes advantage and hits the Drive By. Solo gets involved again by grabbing Cody’s ankle, which leads to Roman turning Cody inside out with a Clothesline.
Roman is now clearing the announce table. He gets on top of the other table to powerbomb Cody through the first one, but Cody counters with a back body drop and Roman goes through the table!
Cody hits the Cody Cutter and goes for the cover, but Roman kicks. out! Cody hits Roman with a Suicide Dive. Solo hit Cody in the back with the weight belt and the referee heard it, and ordered him to leave the ringside area.
Roman is now in possession of the weight belt, but the referee tries to take it away, and Cody delivers a Superkick and a Cross Rhodes! Cody goes for the cover, but Roman kicks out!
Reigns is now delivering clubbing blows to the back of Cody’s neck. Roman hits a Rock Bottom and goes for the cover, but Cody kicks out.
Roman is now looking for the Superman Punch, but Cody counters with a Pedigree. Cody goes for the cover, but Roman kicks out at 2.9!
Cody goes for the Disaster Kick, but Roman hits a Superman Punch! Roman goes for the cover, but Cody kicks out!
Roman is doubting himself, but Heyman is motivating him. Roman goes for the Spear, but Cody counters with a pin attempt, Roman kicks out. Cody locks in the Figure 4 Leg Lock! Roman reverses it, but Cody is able to reach the bottom rope.
They are now trading punches. Cody goes to the top rope, but misses and Roman lands a Spear! Roman goes for the cover, but Cody kicks out!
Roman is angry now and delivers shots to the head of Cody. Roman locks in the Guillotine Choke Hold. Cody breaks it up after struggling for a while and begins landing punches on Roman.
Cody accidentally knocks the referee and Roman hits a Superman Punch on Cody, Cody hits Clothesline and both men are down as well.
Rhodes is looking for Cross Rhodes and The Usos come out and superkick Rhodes and hit him with the 1D. Usos put Roman on top of Cody, but Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn come in to fight Jimmy & Jey Uso.
Kevin hits the Stunner on Roman and then Sami hits him with the Helluva Kick. Usos come in again and brawl with KO & Sami, and leave the area.
The referee is awake and Cody goes for the cover, but Roman kicks out. Roman and Cody are now punching each other to ‘boo’ and ‘yeah’ chants from the fans.
Roman goes for the Superman Punch, but Cody counters with Dusty Rhodes’ jabs and the uppercut right hand, followed by the Cross Rhodes 2 times and Paul Heyman distracts the referee.
Solo Sikoa comes back and hits the Samoan Spike. Roman then hits his momentum spear for the win!
