The Rock is rumored to challenge his real-life cousin Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship in the main event of WrestleMania 40 – Night 2, but nothing has been officially confirmed at this point.
We will see whether The Great One is going to enter the Royal Rumble as a surprise entrant in January and win it, or if the winner ends up challenging the World Heavyweight Champion instead, which leaves a spot for The Rock to challenge Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Title, which is the richest prize in the sport.
On a recent episode of his ‘Tuesdays With The Taskmaster’ podcast on AdFreeShows, NWA/WCW Legend Kevin Sullivan spoke about this potential blockbuster match, and stated that they could spice it up and make it even better with some sort of special referee or outside enforcer type of role.
Here’s what The Taskmaster had to say:
“They’re gonna draw no matter what. If you put a special referee like Steve Austin or Mike Tyson or even one of the elders from The Tribal Chief’s family, there’s so many ways you could do it.
They’re gonna draw even without it (a special referee) but if you want to put a cherry on the cake, get somebody like Austin or someone from the original Bloodline, and they’ll draw huge.
Whenever Rock and Reigns come together, the story is going to be incredible, build another story in a tag team. Some people don’t like tag team matches, but you can draw a lot.”
