• WWE Bringing Back The WWF Winged Eagle Title Belt?
On Saturday, January 28th, ‘The American Nightmare’ Cody Rhodes won the annual 30-man Royal Rumble match, which gives him the right to main event WrestleMania 39 against Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns.
The son of WWF/NWA Legend ‘The American Dream’ Dusty Rhodes took to Instagram and teased bringing back the legendary 1988-1998 WWF Winged Eagle Championship belt design, in case he wins the title at ‘WrestleMania: Hollywood’ on April 1st/2nd at the SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.
This wouldn’t come as a shock to anyone, considering the fact that Cody already brought back the classic 80s/90s WWF Intercontinental Championship design in October 2011.
If he actually ends up changing the WWE Championship belt’s design, we can only hope that Cody also wins the Tag Team titles, as well as the United States title … oh, and while we’re at it, regains the Intercontinental title again, because the old designs were obviously better.
Cody Rhodes first wrestled for WWE from 2007 until 2016 and later – after stints in IMPACT Wrestling (2016-2017) and Tony Khan’s All Elite Wrestling (2019-2022) – returned at WrestleMania 38 as the mystery opponent for Seth Rollins.
