Below are a couple of top WWE news stories of the day.
• Chad Gable is set to face a “Mystery Luchador” on tonight’s RAW. This mystery opponent is rumored to be former AEW star Penta El Zero Miedo.
WWE has been airing hype vignettes for weeks, hinting at the debut of Penta, and last week confirmed he was behind the vignettes by showing his name, though his appearance as Gable’s opponent hasn’t been officially announced yet.
Penta left AEW in late 2024, and the trademark for “Cero Miedo” was filed months ago, reinforcing the belief that he’s preparing for his WWE debut. His brother, Rey Fenix, is also expected to join WWE after his AEW contract ends, which had time added to it.
WWE has already begun selling Penta-branded merchandise ahead of tonight’s show, thus confirming that Penta has indeed signed with the company. You can check it out below:

• WWE’s international approach for the Backlash premium live event is set to continue in 2025, with the event expected to be held in Mexico.
This follows the success of the 2023 Backlash event in San Juan, Puerto Rico, which featured Cody Rhodes vs. Brock Lesnar, and the 2024 edition in France, headlined by Cody Rhodes vs. AJ Styles for the Undisputed WWE Championship.
In an interview with Rolling Stone, Bad Bunny, who wrestled Damian Priest in a Street Fight at Backlash 2023, confirmed the 2025 location, sharing that the event’s success in Puerto Rico and France made WWE see the value in hosting Backlash in international markets. WWE has not yet announced the exact date or location for this year’s Backlash event.
Here’s what Bunny said:
“What can I tell you? It was nice. We were there until we could bring WWE to Puerto Rico. And man, I actually feel like it was good for them and for everyone, because I saw that last year Backlash was in France, now it’s going to Mexico. They saw that it worked.”
